I was just reading a post by a Mom blogger who wanted to let some Moms off the hook. She was lamenting that on sites like Facebook and Pinterest, sometimes it looks like everyone has the cleanest homes some of us only dream about. Having a perfectly ordered and spanking clean house is not something everyone has time for. If they did, then I wouldn’t have a business. My own home even gets a little messy sometimes. Especially when it’s high season and we are cleaning at the Firefighter’s Fair! Whew.
I would never want to make another Mom feel bad for not having the perfect home. I tell you one thing, I am a little tired of it being Mom’s job to keep a home. What happened to everyone else?
The words “Help my wife with the cleaning” also make me a little crazy. You both live in the house, why not work as a team to keep it up? I think some people are just naturally more inclined to see what needs to be done, and others are so busy and focused on other things they don’t even see the mess. It’s not just a man-woman thing either.
In some relationships, it’s the men who are always cleaning up and putting things away. I have a friend who told me her husband, who likes things neat and tidy, would just let stuff pile up, and as she was running in and out of the house from one appointment to the next or shuttling the children around, he would get more and more angry until he would simply explode. Then he would clean up. She finally told him, stop waiting for me. I just don’t see that stuff. My mind is filled with the things I have to do each day. If something bothers you, pick it up, put it away, or say something to me before you get angry. I will work with you to put things to right. Or, better yet, I will hire Carole’s crew to keep things clean and orderly.
I never want to make anyone, man or woman, feel less than. My blog posts are meant to be helpful. Most of the topics I write about become blog posts because they are things people have asked me about. It’s not just Dr.’s who get cornered at parties for advice you know. People will actually ask my advice about how to properly clean certain things.
Don’t be overwhelmed by trying to keep up with everything, give us a call and we can try to work something out to make your life easier.
